HISTORY boiWONDA pHilmZ was originally established as BAP! pHilmZ in 1998 by Kirk Shannon-Butts. BAP! pHilmZ produced the short video films cK Theory, Immaculate and Angel Art.
BAP! pHilmZ transitioned from video to film and became boiWONDA pHilmZ. boiWONDA pHilmZ has produced two (2) short films, "Beneath The Surface" and "Complete Abandon".
"Complete Abandon" was screened at the Jamerican Film & Music Festival in Jamaica, Hollywood Black Film Festival in California and FESPACO in Burkina Faso, Africa, and the prestigious Kennedy Center .

boiWONDA pHilmZ's motto is balancing cinema. Our goal is to produce modern movies focusing on storytelling, cultural expression, style and originality.
Our first feature film "Blueprint" premieres in Spring 2007.

ABOUT THE FILMMAKER Kirk Shannon-Butts received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Chapman University's School of Film & Television in May 2000.
boi WONDA to friends, Kirk is from Baltimore, Maryland. His travels has taken him to Russia, France, Japan and the Caribbean. He has worked with Robert Townsend, Anna Maria Horsford, Samuel L. Jackson and Loretta Devine while working as a Hollywood Publicist.
"My goal is to balance cinema through provocative stories and images of those members of the American landscape not fully addressed in Hollywood's films."
"I am influenced by the work itself rather than a particular director or genre. Some of my favorite films include Happy Together, The Krays, Trainspotting, My Beautiful Laundrette and Menace II Society."
Kirk lives in New York City as he completes post on "Blueprint" and preps his second feature film "The Pain Session" - a thriller beginning on Thursday, September 13, 2001 exploring the relationship between a Muslim guy and an African American guy in New York City post 9/11 events. |
